Pomegranate Vanilla Syrup

Step 1

Add C&H® Pure Cane Turbinado Sugar, water, and vanilla extract to a small saucepan over medium heat and bring to light simmer (no need to boil). Lightly stir to dissolve the sugar.

Step 2

Once the sugar is dissolved, remove from the heat and allow the syrup to cool. Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks.

Pomegranate Vanilla Old Fashioned

Step 1

In a mixing glass, combine the pomegranate vanilla syrup, brandy, and chocolate bitters and add  ice. Using a bar spoon, stir the cocktail for 10 seconds until properly chilled and diluted.

Step 2

Strain the drink into a rocks glass over a large cube of ice, and garnish with fresh pomegranate seeds.

Step 3

Carefully pare an orange peel from an orange, and express the essential oils of the citrus peel over the top of the cocktail, and place the orange peel into the glass. Enjoy!

Additional Tips

This recipe is also great to create in a larger batch to accommodate more serves. One 750ml bottle of brandy serves 12 old fashioneds. To batch this cocktail, follow the recipe specifications below:

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of brandy (or bourbon)
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate vanilla syrup
  • 1.5 oz chocolate bitters
  • 1/2 cup of water (for dilution)

Instructions

Combine all ingredients into a pitcher, or empty bottle and stir to combine. Place in the refrigerator to chill until guests arrive. Serve the drink in a rocks glass on ice, and garnish with fresh pomegranate seeds, and an orange peel.
